![]() The CASSANDRA project aims to make container security more efficient and effective. The project addresses the visibility needs of both business and government in the international flow of containerised cargo by developing a data sharing concept that allows an extended assessment of risks by both business and government.

INTEGRITY presented to US Department of Homeland Security and US Customs Authorities![]() From June 29th to June 30th 2011 the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) invited to the international Cargo Security Supply Chain Industry Day in Arlington near Washington DC, USA. Purpose of the workshop was to inform relevant stakeholders about the future plans of the DHS and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Prof. Dr. Frank Arendt took part in the workshop on behalf of the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) and informed the participants about the current European projects on container visibility, INTEGRITY and CASSANDRA. Both projects aim to improve the transparency, reliability and security of international intermodal container transports. Whereas INTEGRITY is in its demonstration phase using trade lanes from China to Europe to validate the functionality of the SICIS system developed within the project, CASSANDRA will adapt this approach and will extend the scope to trade lanes from Europe to the US, amongst others. The discussions during the workshop have been a first valuable approach for cooperation of the projects with the DHS and US Customs authorities. Contact:
